On Thursday, 26 February 2026, PT Amertec Eraplast held the official Kick Off Meeting (KOM) for the installation of a 6-cell Cooling Tower — Salak 7 Project — located at GPP AWI-1, Star Energy Geothermal Salak, Kabandungan, Kabupaten Sukabumi, West Java. The meeting was conducted online via Zoom, attended by representatives from JO Timas–Rekind (JOTR) and Amertec.

Project Overview

The Salak 7 Cooling Tower project covers the full assembly and installation of a 6-cell cooling tower unit at the GPP AWI-1 site. Amertec serves as the sub-contractor responsible for the complete mechanical installation scope under the main contractor JO Timas–Rekind.

Pre-assembly activities will be carried out at two designated laydown areas before final installation at the AWI-1 site, following a structured three-team approach to maximise efficiency.

Civil Readiness Status

At the time of the KOM, civil readiness was reported as follows:

  • Cells 3 & 6: Civil works complete — punch list closure and handover to mechanical team in progress.
  • Cells 2 & 5: 20 pedestals remaining — estimated completion within 1 week.
  • Cells 1 & 4: 49 pedestals remaining — estimated completion before Idul Fitri holiday.

Project Schedule

  • Start Preparation: 27 February 2026 (2 weeks duration)
  • Manpower Mobilization: After Idul Fitri Holiday
  • Equipment & Tools Mobilization: After Idul Fitri Holiday
  • Start Assembly & Installation: End of March 2026

Preparation scope includes manpower readiness (MCU, safety induction, ID badge submission), equipment and tools staging, engineering document finalisation, and HSSE document & permit preparation.

Work Strategy & Execution Teams

Three parallel teams will execute the installation simultaneously to meet the project schedule:

  • Team 1: Fill pack fabrication — using 3 gluing machines.
  • Team 2: FRP structure installation — using Crawler Crane 50T.
  • Team 3: FRP structure installation — using Crawler Crane 100T.

FRP frame lifting will use a Spreader Beam as recommended by the manufacturer, with an estimated single-layer FRP frame weight of 2 tonnes. A dedicated plate foundation will be prepared to ensure safe crawler crane access.

Laydown & Site Areas

  • Cikidang Laydown: Storage for mechanical parts and fill pack materials.
  • AWI 22 Laydown: FRP material storage and fabrication area.
  • AWI 1 Site: Final cooling tower installation location.

Installation Sequence

  1. Anchor installation — positioning verified using theodolite.
  2. FRP frame installation using Spreader Beam.
  3. Progressive cell-by-cell assembly and erection.

Heavy Equipment

  • Crawler Crane 100T
  • Crawler Crane 50T
  • TMC 15T

Working Hours & HSE

Normal working hours are set at 07:00–16:00, with a schedule of 13 working days per week and 1 rest day. Overtime is permitted up to a maximum of 18 hours per week, with proper lighting required for all night activities.

All lifting gear must undergo inspection and NDT by a certified third-party provider before use on site. NDT reports are to be submitted to the JOTR HSE team. Amertec will also prepare installation method statements, procedures, scaffolding installation method plans, and a full lifting plan for the assembly and installation of the cooling tower.
